Girls on the Run:  A signature program of the YWCA.  Over 500 Girls Participate in Our Program Each Year. Welcome to an awesome and life-changing program for young girls!   Led by volunteer coaches, girls in the 3rd through 5th grades use running as a tool to learn that they can accomplish anything.  Girls on the Run came to Sioux Falls and the YWCA in 2005.  Since that time, almost 2000 girls have completed the program that promotes positive self-esteem and body image.  The program teaches girls how to set goals and reach them. Girls on Track: Led by volunteer coaches, girls in the 6th through 8th grades use running as a tool to learn that they can accomplish anything.  The middle school program allows for more mature processing around certain topics including eating disorders, internet safety, cyber bullying and tobacco/alcohol use.

Sioux Falls Area Running Club hosts kids cross country meets for kid’s age kindergarten through 6th grade.  The SFARC consists of 99 members now who not only run for exercise and competition in race events, but also for pure enjoyment. Our purpose as an organization is to support and promote running in South Dakota, SW Minnesota, NE Nebraska and NW Iowa. We want to bring together runners at every level of ability to share in the running experience. Our primary focus at this time is to provide information on race events, group runs, and training.
