SFMW is comprised of involved parents and experienced coaches, committed to the development of young wrestlers of all abilities. The wrestling season is Mid-November through March, culminating with the district, regional, and state tournaments. The practice schedule is set before the season begins, and is available at the meeting. Competition takes place in the various club tournaments held in the Sioux Falls area. Most tourneys are on Saturday, but there are some Friday evening and Sunday tourneys as well. The competition schedule is individualized – your child may compete in as few or as many tournaments as is desired. Girls are also welcome to participate. During practice they will be matched to ensure a beneficial and safe environment. Each tournament is different, girls may be matched up with other girls or they may be placed in a group of similar age and weight bracket with boys. Top reasons for joining: Great coaching, great friends and great fun! Personal growth and a sense of accomplishment. Develop strength, discipline and self-confidence. Competition is against others of the same age and weight. Kids of any size or body form can become an outstanding wrestler – being exceptionally tall or large is not an advantage. Earn medals and trophies – lots of them. Most tournaments award medals and/or trophies to all participants.
